Virginia Melendrez Silva weaves coiled juncus baskets and willow acorn storage baskets. She is known for her fine coiling and polychrome designs. Virginia is the daughter of the famous basketwaver, Celia Silva.

Virginia Melendrez lives in the Kumeyaay Indian community of San Jose de la Zorra, Baja California, Mexico.
