INDIGENOUS VILLAGEEL MAYOR, a small Indigenous village in the Colorado River Delta area of Baja California, Mexico, is pictured in November 2004. The 2004 photograph documents a makeshift Indian home dwellings in the El Mayor tribal community, a Colorado River tribe of indigenous river people. By the United States' standards, some of the Cocopah Indian housing in El Mayor would be considered living in makeshift shacks, but here on the Colorado River Delta, these Indian homes are typical of the river people. This Cocopah video photograph was originally produced for a Kalim Smith UCSD multimedia video DVD movie documentary, Right of Passage, A Nation Divided. |
