This California Indian lifestyle picture was photographed in March 2006 on a rather chilly evening in the rural tribal community rancho mountain valley of San Jose de la Zorra, Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico.

Old fashioned iron wood-burning cookstoves were still being used in the Kumiai homes I visited in the Mexican tribal ejidos I visited in 2004, 2005, 2006 -- this is the old iron stove in the two above photos. This kitchen environment is typical in the Indio ejidos, the homes in 2006 when this photo was taken, still did not have electricity wired in, running water, or indoor toilets.
