KUMIAI DANCERSGloria Castañeda Silva, Kumiai (2nd from left), of San Jose de la Zorra, represented her Kumiai band and danced traditional dances with her family and friends at the event. Gloria Castañeda is the daughter of Kumeyaay elder Celia Silva Espinoza, and both Native American women are famous Indian basket weavers in Southern California, are both are fluent in their Kumeyaay language and both are active in their tribal community on both sides of the US-Mexico border. Doña Gloria Castañeda is an indigenous ethnobotanist consultant featured in Michael Alan Wilken's 2012 SDSU Anthropology Master of Arts Thesis.
